Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 06, 2026
AdsDebugger ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome Extension.
1. The Information We Collect
AdsDebugger is a developer tool designed to analyze digital advertising signals. To function, it requires access to network requests initiated by the browser.
- Ad Request Data: We intercept and analyze network requests made to known advertising servers (e.g., Google Ad Manager, Prebid, AdX, etc.). We extract technical parameters such as ad unit paths, targeting keys, creative IDs, and sizes.
- Page Interaction: We access the
windowobject of the current page via injected scripts to read variables likegoogletagandpbjs(Prebid.js) to provide debugging information. - Privacy Strings: We read and decode consent strings (TCF v2.0, US Privacy, etc.) found in network requests or local storage to help you verify compliance.
2. Information You Provide Voluntarily
When you contact us for support, feature requests, or bug reports (e.g., via email or our support forms), we may collect the following information:
- Contact Information: Your name, email address, and organization (optional) so we can reply to your inquiry.
- Technical Details: Information you choose to provide to help us troubleshoot, such as:
- Browser version (e.g., Chrome 143.0)
- Operating System (e.g., Windows 11, macOS Sonoma)
- Extension version (e.g., AdsDebugger v1.0.0)
- URLs of pages where issues occurred.
- Screenshots or descriptions of the error.
How we use this data: This information is used solely to resolve your support request, fix bugs, or improve the extension's features. We do not use this contact information for marketing purposes unless you explicitly opt-in.
3. How We Use Information
All data processing occurs locally on your device.
- Debugging & Analysis: The data collected is strictly used to populate the AdsDebugger popup interface, allowing you to troubleshoot ad delivery, verify targeting, and analyze auction dynamics.
- No Remote Storage: We do not transmit your browsing history, ad data, or any personally identifiable information (PII) to external servers.
- Ephemeral Storage: Data is stored in your browser's temporary session memory (
chrome.storage.session) to maintain state while you navigate. This data is cleared when the browser or extension is restarted.
4. Permissions Justification
To provide its core functionality, AdsDebugger requires the following permissions:
webRequest&webRequestBlocking: Necessary to observe network traffic and identify ad-related calls in real-time.storage: Used to save your settings and temporarily cache request data for the session.activeTab&<all_urls>: Necessary because ad tags can be present on any website. The extension must be able to inspect network traffic on any domain you visit to detect advertising signals.
5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to outside parties. Since the extension operates entirely client-side, we do not possess a database of your usage or captured data.
6. Data Security
Because your data never leaves your browser environment via our extension, it is subject to the same security protections as your browser. We implement coding best practices to ensure the extension does not introduce vulnerabilities to the websites you visit.
No Ad Injection: The extension is a passive analysis tool and does not inject advertisements, replace publisher inventory, or modify website layout except to overlay debugging information locally for the user.
While we protect the data within the extension, please note that information sent via email is not encrypted end-to-end by us. We recommend not sharing sensitive personal data (like passwords or financial info) in support tickets.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
